Residential quarter in Munich-Neuperlach

The aim of the competition was to develop an urban and landscape planning concept for an attractive residential district on a planning area of around six hectares in Munich-Neuperlach.

The orientation of the site towards speed, as determined by the main traffic axes, is taken up in our design by the dynamic design language of an organic architecture. The noise protection needed is acquired by setting targeted heights for buildings around courtyards in this urban development. Three additional tower blocks in the woods result in strong urban distinctiveness. A new typology of building development is created, whose arrangement and lively design language produce a welcoming gesture.

The spatial quality of the neighbourhoods surrounding the quarter is distinguished by the existing buildings around courtyards open up to their surroundings largely by opening up a corner. This theme is taken up here: the new development forms large openings to the north with which it faces the woods flowing into city, thus receiving the landscape space inside the courtyards.
