We have been active in Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia and since 1999 have supervised more than 500 individual projects for private- and public-sector clients in 23 cities. Our principal client is BauBeCon Stadtsanierungsgesellschaft, an urban regeneration enterprise. However, we have also carried out various projects for the Hanseatic City of Bremen, the Norddeutsche Immobiliengesellschaft (a property company) or the Sachsen-Anhaltinische Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft (a regional development enterprise).
The main focus of our activity was initially on the World Heritage city of Quedlinburg and has since 2003 extended to other cities such as Blankenburg, Osterwieck, Derenburg and Helmstedt. Since 2009, we have added the northwest German region, with towns such as Celle or Worpswede.
These towns in particular are characterised by their extremely valuable buildings and what in many cases is a still intact historic town centre, but they suffer from a demographic trend that involves substantial depopulation.
With this as background, our architects’ office supports the towns and the individual clients implementing the most diverse renovation measures and new construction projects with regard to preparation, execution and accounting, within the framework of the respective funding programmes, thus contributing successfully to making the towns sustainably attractive and liveable.
The modernisation, repair and safeguarding measures involve historic buildings, some of them listed, that are characteristic and valuable for the respective townscape. In addition to the grant support matters, our consultation focuses on urban planning aspects and on how to handle the materials typical of the respective location, and the regional architectural language.
In close cooperation with the towns, we prepare preparatory studies and urban planning expertises on complex building tasks. These expertises serve as a groundbreaking basis for discussions with developers, as a basis for discussion in building committees and as a basis for further statements of opinion by the municipal authorities.
In addition, we design citizen workshops for cities and local communities in different phases of urban development projects, which we conduct and evaluate ourselves.
We advise private clients on renovation matters in regular on-site meetings and provide them with professional and technical support during the implementation of their projects.
